Lifestyle Blog Post Ideas to Fill Up Your Content Calendar

Are you looking for lifestyle blog post ideas? Beginner and seasoned bloggers alike have gone through a blogging rut and have had difficulty coming up with blog post ideas. And it can be even more difficult if you run a multiple niche blog.

Instead of racking your brain for ideas every time you sit down to write a blog post, create an idea bank where you can jot down content ideas.

And I would like to give you some lifestyle blog post ideas to add to your idea bank.

Let’s get started.

THIS POST CONTAINS AFFILIATE LINKS, WHICH MEANS I MAY RECEIVE A COMMISSION FOR PURCHASES MADE THROUGH MY LINKS AT NO EXTRA COST TO YOU.

How to Start a Successful Lifestyle Blog

I know you’ve probably heard experienced bloggers say never to start a lifestyle blog, and you’ll be more successful if you choose a niche.

There are truths behind that statement, but you can also build a successful lifestyle blog.

Here are a few successful lifestyle blogs:

What is a lifestyle blog?

A lifestyle blog is a website documenting a person’s life, interests, and experiences.

Lifestyle bloggers can choose as many topics as they please.

You can write about food, fashion, travel, home decor, parenting, beauty, and so much more.

However, writing about too many topics can confuse your audience and search engines and become too overwhelming for you to keep up.

Understand Your Audience

I can never tell you how to run your blog, but I recommend you identify the purpose of your blog. What are your key topics? Who is your target audience?

And once you’ve identified your target audience, research and find some of their other interests related to your key topics.

For instance, if your target audience is college students, you can write about fashion, beauty, travel, decor, or finance.

You can choose any combination of topics; however, the key is to tailor your blog posts to your audience. A college student may not be interested in remodeling a kitchen, but they’d probably click on a post about dorm room decor.

The bottom line is that you must keep your audience in mind to grow a successful blog.

Gone are the days when personal blogs were the hot topic. Now people want to consume inspiring and helpful content.

Although a lifestyle blog is still personal, try to spin your content in a way that helps or inspires your readers.

How to Come Up With More Lifestyle Blog Post Ideas

When you exhaust this list, there are other places to grab some blog post ideas, and we will jump into those next.

Audience

Comment Section

Are you looking for more lifestyle blog post ideas? Look no further than your readers. When you write your blog posts, end them with a call to action that will prompt your audience to comment or ask questions. Note their comments and questions and expand on them in a blog post.

Email Newsletter

You can do the same with your email newsletters. Whether you get a reply from a newsletter, direct email from your contact form, or ask your audience directly, see if you can grab some blog post ideas from them.

Analytics

Google Analytics

Another viable place to find ideas for your lifestyle blog is right in your Google analytics. Check your existing blog post to see which ones are performing the best. Essentially, you want to create content more like those.

Also, check your demographics to determine if you’re reaching your intended target audience.

If not, you may have to clarify your message or change your content strategy so you can find and connect with your target readers.

Google Search Console

Google Search Console is often used to check and improve existing blog posts, but it can also help you find inspiration for new blog post ideas.

Go to Performance on the left sidebar. Then click Pages, select a specific page, and then click Queries to view the search terms that generated impressions on your blog post.

You can use this method to find keywords to enhance your current blog post, but you can also find additional keywords for new content.

Current Blog Post

Check out your current blog posts to find inspiration for blog post ideas. Review your blog post headers and body text to find topic ideas for new content.

A simple way to generate more lifestyle blog post ideas is to write a blog post on a general topic, then take each header and create new blog posts. You can easily take one blog post and create several new ones.

Keyword Research

One of the best ways to find blog post ideas is to perform keyword research.

Keyword research is the process of analyzing words and phrases that users search for in search engines to determine if you can rank for them.

You can choose from a long list of keyword research tools, both free and paid, and developers create new ones often.

Here are a few free Keyword Research Tools:

Google

Besides Google Analytics and Search Console, Google also offers other options to find blog post topics.

Use Google autocomplete predictions and the People Also Ask sections (on the top and bottom of the SERP page) to find additional keywords and questions.

Answer the Public

Answer the Public takes your search term and populates phrases and questions people are asking about your topic. They offer three free searches per day.

Keywords Everywhere

Keywords Everywhere, a freemium chrome extension, shows you keyword metrics and related keywords directly on the SERP page.

You need credits to load the metrics, but you can view Related Keywords and Long-tail Keywords sections without credits.

You can also use Keywords Everywhere on Pinterest, but we’ll talk about Pinterest next.

Keysearch

Keysearch, a keyword and SEO tool, helps you find relevant keywords, backlinks, and competitors’ data. Let’s face it; some keyword research tools are not in the budget for most bloggers. However, Keysearch starts at an affordable price of $17 per month.

If you’re interested in Keysearch, you can use code KSDISC for 20% OFF.

Pinterest

Use Pinterest search suggestions to generate more blog post topics. When you type in a keyword, Pinterest will display a drop-down box with more ideas. Once you click on your search topic, they will sometimes provide additional search topics below the search box.

For instance, when I type in gardening, Pinterest suggests design, ideas, art, projects, secret, small balcony, fairy, and Pinterest profiles associated with gardening.

Now, if I click ideas, Pinterest provides additional topics:

  • fairy
  • small
  • herb

With those search suggestions, I could come up with the below blog post ideas:

  • Beginners Guide to Herb Gardening
  • How to Start a Flower Garden

And if you click on the suggested idea, Pinterest will often generate even more ideas.

For example, if I click fairy, Pinterest provides additional ideas:

  • DIY
  • outdoor
  • succulent

Then, I can write the below posts:

  • 10 Cute DIY Fairy Garden Ideas
  • Beginners Guide to Building a Succulent Fairy Garden

As you can see, you can use Pinterest to come up with tons of ideas.

As I mentioned, you can use Keywords Everywhere on Pinterest to find additional keywords.

Once you perform a search, a link for “find topic ideas” will appear below the search box. Click the link, and another window will open with additional search results.

Other Content Creators

Look for blog post inspiration amongst your fellow lifestyle bloggers. Of course, you should never plagiarize their content. The goal is to get your creative juice flowing and give your unique take on the topic.

Over 6 million blog posts are published daily, so the chances of you writing on a topic no one else has covered is slim to none. You can find an interesting point of view or discover a gap in existing content and brainstorm a way to fill it.

Bonus: Freebie Ideas for Lifestyle Bloggers

Email Marketing

How many times have you heard someone say an email newsletter is necessary? Plenty, I bet. Email newsletters can help you build a deeper relationship with your audience and grow your blog.

Unlike social media, where you can lose your profiles and followers, your email list belongs to you.

One of the most common ways to grow your email list is to add signup forms to your website.

Signup Forms

How many times have you signed up on a generic signup form? I’ve never. If you’re like me, I’m sure you want to know what you’re getting in return.

General signup forms are no match for a detailed opt-in offer because, unlike a generic signup box, a unique opt-in offers your audience a valuable resource.

However, as a lifestyle blogger, it’s not always easy to create freebies for your audience.

I wanted to share some opt-in freebie and content upgrade ideas you can add to your website and blog posts. The list has a few suggestions, but you can find more freebie ideas online.

If you can create a freebie that appeals to most of your audience base, it makes life easier for you. However, your readers likely have different interests, even in a niche blog.

Content Upgrades

That’s where content upgrades come in handy.

A content upgrade is free bonus content related to a particular blog post.

I especially like content upgrades for lifestyle blogs because you can create different offers that align with the interests and needs of your audience.

One thing to remember when creating your freebies is that you want to understand your audience’s interests and pain points to avoid offering a freebie that isn’t useful to your audience.

List of Opt-in Freebies:

  • Content Upgrades
  • Resource List
  • Printables
  • Guides
  • Planners
  • Checklist
  • Cheat Sheets
  • Templates
  • Stock Photos
  • Graphics
  • Discount or Free Trial
  • Challenges
  • Mini Course
  • Resource Library
  • Access to Facebook Group
